Pastor Ben Cooper

As a young paperboy, Ben’s journey starts as a survivor of abuse and from that He is the founder of J832; an organisation which assists with coping with abuse. His journey to Freedom has begun, Ben came to faith in Jesus as a teenager, but he rebelled trying to resist the calling on His life.

Having left school a year early after struggling with education and becoming very despondent (due to his dyslexia), he started out on the YTS government training scheme and landed his first job as hod carrier in the bricklaying industry, all whilst completing a three year apprenticeship in bricklaying, gaining a City and Guilds qualification - during this time he was in rebellion to God ‘s Calling but later, following a “God moment,” he committed to his calling.

His Faith journey began with the Elim Bible College, attending the “Church training program” that led to his Ordination as an Elim Minister.  He has been with the movement since 1997, His ministry journey took him into prison fellowship as he served on the chaplaincy team in Belmarsh, preaching and sharing the gospel, where he was active for four years. 

He was also appointed to serve as Chaplin to the Mayor in Swanley for three consecutive years.  Ben was Lead Chaplin in palliative care for approximately seven years within a hospice.

He has taken uncountable funerals, both prior to covid and through that trying time of lock down, also working with families to this day and work along side numerous funeral directors as He believes this is part of His calling to journey with loved ones that are going through bereavement.

Reverend Ben Cooper is the Senior Minister at Elim Church Swanley, which is a very lively and busy mission front line Church, a major food project was birthed from Elim Swanley with Fairshare and neighbourly just before lockdown and has feed uncountable people within the local community, now the project has grow to stand alone, now called Swanley Community Hub with its own charitable status, where he is the chairman.

Ben started building the podcast/radio studio when we went into lockdown, also as the church started live streaming the services from Bens phone, He progressed to this beautiful, peaceful studio (Please click here) within the church, He is proud of the achievement and would love for you to experience this too.

He has also spent time on radio Kent as a guest on the Sunday morning faith panel on many occasions.

Ben is also a Author of 3 x books which has birthed a ministry, he is the co founder with Simon Pinchbeck which is  #ChristianStraightTalk, risen out from there podcasts.
